Foreclosure Scam Alert: Loan modification consultants M & R Contemporary Solutions, Inc. arrested for stealing money

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again:

Watch out for loan modification consultants and companies.  Nine times out of ten they’re scammers.  If you want help with your loan modification, use an experienced lawyer or law firm with an established recommendation.  And make sure to first talk to other people who can recommend them.

In this case, a loan modification company called M & R Contemporary Solutions, Inc. in Campbell, CA was busted for taking fees up front (which is illegal in California) and then not doing anything to help the homeowners who paid them.  In other words, they stole money from people in a vulnerable situation who were least able to afford it.

Based in California, the wide-ranging loan modification scam took advantage of hundreds of people including a number of Nevada residents, according to an article by journalist Michael Moore in the Morgan Hill Times.

If by any chance you used M & R Contemporary Solutions, Inc., or if you worked with Renee Alvarez or Mariano Ortega, then odds are you’ve been scammed and are not going to get your money back (at least without a fight).  Feel free to contact us for a free consultation if you’d like to discuss your options going forward.

Working with non-lawyer loan modification companies does not help stop foreclosure Las Vegas.  The best approach is to always use experienced bankruptcy lawyers with an established reputation.  Especially now that Nevada provides homeowners with the option to request a mandatory foreclosure mediation session with your mortgage lender.

And NEVER pay money up front for help with a loan modification in Las Vegas or anywhere else.  You should always get a free initial consultation and a clear understanding of what services you will be provided when it comes time to make a payment.

For complete bankruptcy information in Las Vegas, please get in touch for a free initial consultation.  We’ll sit down with you, explain your options and walk you through the process so you know exactly what you’re getting into and what you’re getting out of it.
